[WLRC Nov 2023]: Water and Land Resource Centre, Addis Ababa University (WLRC, AAU) signed on 17 November 2023 a new grant for a five-year project titled, ‘Basin Management Support for Resilient Inclusive Growth and Harmonized Transformation for the National Integrated Water Resource Management programme (IWRMP) of Ethiopia (BRIGHT). The Grant was signed between His Excellency Henk Jan Bakker, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ethiopia and Dr. Gete Zeleke, the Director General of the Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) .

Dr. Gete indicated that the BRIGHT is a five year project that is going to be implemented in five basins in Ethiopia,, namely: Abbay, Awash, Tekeze, Rift Valley, and Omo-Gibe basins. In his congratulatory announcement to the WLRC staff, Dr. Gete indicated that the project is a €45 mln jointly financed by the Foreign Ministry of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the European Union. Dr. Gete acknowledged those funders for the trust they have towards WLRC and then demanded the Centre’s staff to consolidate joint efforts to implement the project successfully.
